NovoHelix uses a third generation lentiviral packaging system that consists of four plasmids that encode gag-pol, rev proteins and pseudotyping with the VSV-g envelope glycoprotein. In addition to the 3 helper plasmids, a fourth self-inactivating (SIN) transfer vector plasmid is used that contains the transgene for expression and this transfer vector can be provided by the client or cloned by us. Lentivirus is produced in a cell factory typically HEK293T by a proprietary transient transfection protocol that is superior to calcium phosphate or linear 25-kDa PEI methods.
